Training Tips for the 2010 Achill Marathon
Personal trainer Gillian Hynes offers tips and advice to prepare for the Achill Half Marathon:
Hi there, so you have decided to take part in the Achill Half Marathon 2010! Just like the past three years it promises to be a fantastic event and this year there will be up to 2000 people participating! A great day for all involved!
Whether jogging, running or walking the 13 miles, a half marathon is a very physical undertaking and participants should ensure adaquete training and preparation in the months and weeks coming up to the event. Detailed below are training schedules based on novice, intermediate, advanced and walking training. These programs provide a mix of short and long runs and resistance training work to build speed, endurance and strength. Please select the program that is appropriate to you.
Also detailed below are dietery and nutrition advice both on a general level and also with specific regard to training and pre and post marathon.
