About the Achill Half Marathon

The Achill Half Marathon which takes place on Saturday 3rd July 2010 is organised by Achill Tourism in association with Comhlacht Forbartha Áitiúil Acla (CFÁÁ), the local development company on Achill Island, Co. Mayo, in the west of Ireland.

The event, in its current format, has been staged in Achill since 2007 and is approved by Athletics Ireland.

The Half Marathon race is the centrepiece to a full weekend of events and entertainment on Achill, one of Ireland's most popular holiday destinations. A full list of events for the weekend will appear on this website as soon as details are finalised. Last year the fun included a tented village with stalls and a Saturday night B-B-Q for runners and their friends and supporters, and we hope to repeat this again in 2011.

The Achill Tourism website contains detailed listings of accommodation on Achill Island as well as listings of restaurants, cafes, bars and other places to eat in Achill. Their website also offers detailed maps and travel information on how to get to Achill and how to get around on the island.
